Tour Information and Playing Opportunity

MVJG has graduated many players to a competitive level of the game of golf. If your interest is to play in junior golf competitions, then you are definitely in the right place. There are many Junior Golf Tournament organizations out there. But where should you start. And what about high school golf? We are here to help answer those questions.

First off, did you know there are approximately 18 middle schools in our valley with golf teams? At the high school level in this valley the play is off the charts. Southwestern is one of the best high school golf leagues in the country. If you don't have a fair amount of experience, it is very difficult to make the team, let alone see any playing time. So if you can get started at the middle school level you will have a much better chance at making that high school team. If not that is ok because there is more opportunity available.

MVJG has sent many junior golfers to the Valley Junior Golf Association to begin their competitive golf experience. The VJGA is a very well run and low cost option here in the Murrieta / Temecula Valley. The VJGA is where players like Brendan Steele and Rickie Fowler got their start. Run by local PGA Professional Lou Skovron and his wife Valerie for over 25 years, and you best way to get started in the world of junior golf. You can visit their web site for more information at www.vjga.org .

MVJG provides playing opportunities to all junior golfers through "Play Days" and the occasional MVJG Hosted Junior Golf Tournaments.

John is also the Head Coach for the Thompson Timberwolves Middle School Golf Team. If you have any questions, please call. See below for last years Middle School Golf Results.

Van Avery vs Santa Rosa vs MVJG

For Santa Rosa, AJ, Jonathan, Tanner, and Jake H turned in their best effort of the year with a 4-over par 40 on the difficult Stonehouse 9. Jake W, Joe, Teddy, and Aaron also went low shooting a 39 with the help of their birdie on 8 after Teddy's tee shot put them 20 feet above the hole before Jake ran it in. Nice shootin' Rangers!

For team MVJG, Katelyn, Alexis, Corey, and Jake J fired their best round of the year as a team with a 4-over score of 40. And Josh, Kyle B, Sage and Cade showed some very strong play out there in a fierce wind shooting 2-under par 34. Great round everyone!

MVJG vs Calvary Murrieta @ Redhawk Golf Course, (par 36, team score is low 2 9-hole scores)

MVJG 33 - 41, 74

Calvary Murrieta 43 - 43, 86

Conrad, Elliot, Joshua and Ben went out first with a huge drive on the 1st to start the day. They carded a fine 43 as did the second squad for Calvary Murrieta Middle School of Ryan, Aaron, Jacob and Austin. Congratulations Warriors, you hit it great today, all that practice is really paying off! You've come a long way since week 1 at the North Course. Can't wait to see your games next year.

For the MVJG squad, first out was Hunter, Josh, Jake H, and Jake J who got around at just 5-over par. The last group, consisting of two veteran junior tour players and one rookie junior tour player, lit up the front 9 at the challenging Redhawk GC with a 3-under 33. Great shooting Sage, Cade and John. Good luck this Summer on the Junior Tour.

1st Annual MVJG Mixer

MVJG & Santa Rosa Middle School @ Fallbrook Golf Club (par 36, 5-ball Scramble, Teams are mixed together and flighted)

The best golf of the year as it got a little competitive out there between the three 5-ball teams. They all wanted to know "what are the other guys at?". All teams were even par through 6 holes.

Sage, Aaron, Teddy, Jonathan, and Corey were the first to card a birdie which came on the 5th with a nice bounceback after bogey at the 4th. A tough 3 putt bogey on 8 left them at 1-over 37 on the day.

Kyle, Jake W, Katelyn, Alexis and Tanner put the best teamwork together all contributing to an awesome even par day, finishing at 36 total strokes for the 9 holes.

Coming in with the low score of the day at 1-under 35, was Cade, Joey, AJ, Jake J and Max. The highlight of the day was the "choke down hybrid" Cade hit on the 7th to within 18 feet of the stick followed by AJ's (first to putt) pouring in the nasty left to right, downhill slider for the bird.

MVJG vs Vail Ranch @ Temeku Hills Golf Course, (par 36, team score is low 2 9-hole 4-ball scramble scores)

MVJG 30 - 31 - 42, 61 (-11)

Vail Ranch 36 - 38 - 39, 74 (+2)

Tim, Drake, Matt and James fire an even par 36 leading a Vail Ranch squad deep with talent. Chip, Kyle, Jared and Kasey followed with a solid 2-over 38. Vail's 3rd fourball came in one stroke higher at 3-over par. Nice shootin' Griffin, Hunter, Drew and Andrew. Well played!!

For the MVJG golf team it was another stellar round of golf as Michael, Norman, Hunter and Jake H go low at 6-under par 30 on the front nine, followed closely by Cade, Sage, Jake J, and Kyle who brought their A game as well, with a 5-under par 31. MVJG's 3rd group of Alexis, Katelyn, Jonathan, and John carded a solid 42 closing out another beautiful day of golf on the course played in the spirit of the game. See you at Redhawk next week!

MVJG vs Santa Rosa @ North Golf Course, (par 33, team score is low 2 9-hole 4-ball scramble scores)

MVJG 29 - 33 - 35, 62 (-4)

Santa Rosa 32 - 39, 71 (+5)

With 2 quick birdies on the 1st, and 2nd holes and an eagle 3 on the 3rd, Courtney, Michael, Josh and Norman fire a stellar 4-under par 29 on the par 33 front 9 at North leading the MVJG squad.

Santa Rosa saw the team of Teddy, Aaron and Sage fire an outstanding 1-under 32 with some big tee shots and great chipping leading the team.

MVJG's Alexis hit a bomb off the tee, Jonathan nailed the second, Katelyn stuck the approach and Jake nailed the putt for birdie on the final hole to post a solid 2-over 35 for the 9 hole score.

Jake, Tanner, AJ and Joey brought in a steady performance with a 39 on the day after paring the first and last holes of the day. Great job Santa Rosa!

The final group of the day saw some incredible golf as Cade, Jake, and Jon opened and close their round with pars and a birdie on 5, and only one bogey on the card for an even par round of 33 for MVJG.

Santa Rosa Academy vs Hillcrest Academy @ Fallbrook Golf Club

Santa Rosa Academy 40-52, 92

Hillcrest Academy 39-53, 92

The Golf overcame the weather and a beautiful day broke out at the Fallbrook Golf Club as Santa Rosa and Hillcrest finished in a dead heat with team scores of 92.

Rachel crushed one of the biggest drives of her career leading Deep and Gracie to a score of 53 on the front nine, while teammates Maddie, Morgan, Sarah and Nicholas posted the low score of the day on the nine hole stretch with a 39. Maddie's big drive on 8 set her team up to finish with a couple of pars to take the low 9 honors.

Katelyn's putt burned the right edge of the hole on the final hole of the match which would have given Santa Rosa's squad the win, they tapped in for the half as Aaron, AJ, Tanner and Katelyn fired a nice 52. Just ahead, the first group off the tee for the Rangers saw Jake's huge drives, Cory's close approach shots, Joey and Teddy's pitching and putting, lead the fourball to a solid score of 40 just one off the low 9 for the day.

A huge thank you to Gena Dells - PGA Professional, Director of Golf
@ Fallbrook Golf Club. You are truly helping form tomorrow's golfers with your exceptional hospitality and junior golf programs, well done!
